It All Started When...
Franklin Pierce 1853-1857 Franklin Pierce was born November 23, 1804 and died on October 08, 1869. (See catalog page for more biography information) President Pierce was an amazing man, he was a loyal church goer, he was the first president to actually memorize the inaugural address to speak at his inaugaration, and he helped to 'preserve the Union' just a little bit longer while the tensions mounted. While Franklin Pierce was in Congress, the tension was extremely severe. So much so that many debates ended up in fist-fights. One fight was over a very debatable issue, "Bleeding Kansas." James Buchanan 1857-1861 James Buchanan was a president with a lot of patience. He had to have had patience with the nation. The nation was acting more irresponsible and irrational the more they headed towards the Civil War. From John Brown's raid at Harper's Ferry to the constant fights in the US Congress to the states succeding from the union, he had a very health prayer life. President Buchanan after the Harper's Ferry raid, pretty much sat on his hands. He adpoted a noninvolement policy until he left office. He retired to a Pennsylvanian home. Abraham Lincoln 1860-1865 Abraham Lincoln was a President completely for the people. He wanted what was best in his own opinion for the USA. President Lincoln was under a lot of pressure. By the time that Lincoln was inaugurated, 7 states had already seceded from the union. Lincoln had to bring the North and the South together. By the end of his time in office he had brought the nation back together. Unfotunately, some one didn't like that he had brought everyone together and killed him. |
United States Flag
The United States Flag today still stands. Our nation experieced an extremely intense and trying time, war between the families, war between best friends, war between brothers. We are still here. This is only thanks to God's grace, our Founding Fathers, and all the men, women, and children that gave everything they, even if that meant their very lives. |
